- You can definitely change the recipe by adding Greek yoghurt rather than coconut cream and changing the nut butter to suit your preference. I like that this is a dairy free option, as I know how difficult it can be to find a dairy-free mousse recipe.
- I cannot emphasise how important it is to use a whisk rather than a wooden spoon when mixing the ingredients together. You can also use a hand held beater, but I've only ever used a whisk for this recipe and it always comes together perfectly.
- You can also use a different sweetener to maple syrup. Agave syrup or honey are great alternatives. I would avoid using any sort of sugar as this would significantly change the texture and is not as natural in sweetness as maple syrup is.
- You can serve the mousse in cups or pop it into a ceramic dish, as I have done. I find that serving it in cups works better if you are hosting and eating this for dessert. A ceramic dish is less clean up if you are just making it for yourself at home.
- I like adding dark choc chips as a topper. However, you can add any toppers like desiccated coconut, hemp seeds, banana or crushed nuts.
